As part of the second Open Data Day in Armenia, we concluded the Open Data Contest. The following projects were recognised as winners:
The ArmAQI project won in the Cultural Applications category, as it fosters a new culture of environmental awareness through air quality monitoring. The project participants are volunteers who have installed air quality sensors in their homes, offices, and other locations. The collected data is published on ArmAQI.org.
The interactive storytelling project about Tigranes the Great was named one of the winners in the Visualisations category. Using maps and data, the authors illustrate how Armenia became an empire, how it later lost its territories, and what legacy was left by the King of Kings. The project is available at tigranes-great.netlify.app.
The Birdwatching in Armenia project was the second winner in the Visualisations category. It shows birdwatching enthusiasts points on the map where various bird species can be observed in Armenia. The database includes 2,470 locations where 359 bird species can be spotted. The project is available at birdwatchingarmenia.vercel.app.
The prize fund of the competition amounted to 3,000 USD.
